Proud to finally release my short film The Deal. Shooting it was one of the best filming experiences I have ever had and that was because of the people I was working with. Everyone knocked it out of the park and the whole thing was quite pleasant. I really hope I will be able to replicate it in my future projects.
This was actually made in the November of 2024, IN A WEEK! So, yes, it is being released 14 months later. That’s really on me. I got in my own way. I submitted it to a film competition and also to festivals but it didn’t get selected. So doubts about it crept in and really consumed me. I don’t know if revealing this is a good idea or not but nonetheless going through the whole battle with myself was an important part of the journey of filmmaking.
I really think this is the best thing I have made till now and I want to keep getting better and better. And the only way to do that is to keep making, keep creating, never letting the flame die.
Once again, I’d like to thank the people involved. Jlson Adhikari and Sakar Mahat for bringing the characters to life ,adding facets I hadn’t forseen and going on this journey with me and giving it their all, Shankar K Udas for the beautiful frames and movement and also his genius in lighting a scene, Manjil GC for being the stable, reliable bedrock we needed for the smooth operation of the shoot and also juggling the sound department simultaneously and last but not least, the amazing makeup artist Rita Shrestha whose expertise brought out just the right look in the characters without going over towards artificiality.
Not credited in the video but had hidden contributions to the film were Bardan Gurung who provided his room, even towards the late hours of the night, Prince Layman for coloring it beautifully (thank god! because I was lost at one point) and Bishal Timalsina for coming in clutch and helping me with a little financial issue.
Thank you all and I hope you’ll keep supporting me and I, in turn, shall always be there to support you!
